Q.1 If you are the chief executive of a large organization, how would you initialize ethics in the organization?

Ans. -

à Ethics is defined as the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty and obligation.

Business ethics is concerned with truth and justice and has a variety of aspects such as the expectations of the society, fair competition, advertising, public relations, social responsibility, consumer autonomy and corporate behavior in the home country as well as abroad.

To initialize the ethics anywhere we can use three theories

1. Utilitarian Theory: This theory suggests that plans and actions should be evaluated by their consequences. I.e. plans and actions are to produce the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

2. Theory based on rights: This theory says that all people have basic rights.

3. Theory of Justice: This theory says that decision taken should be fair and impartial.

For any organization ethics can be initialized in following ways:

1. We need to establish an appropriate company policy or a code of ethics.

2. .We can apply ethics by checking for possible violations of the code.

3. We can initialize ethics by teaching ethics in management development program.

4. We can initialize ethics by establishing code of ethics for organization.

5. Ethics can be Initialized by holding regular meetings to discuss ethical issues

6. Ethics can be initialized by using a formally appointed ethics committee.

7. Ethics can be initialized by giving rewards to them who follows the codes regularly and by punishing to them who does not follow codes.

8. We can initialize by reporting activities of the committee to the board of directors.

9. By reviewing and updating the codes.

For effective enforcement of ethics consistent demonstration of ethical behavior and support from top management in organization is very important.

Finally for ethical codes to be effective provisions should be made for their enforcement. Unethical managers should be held responsible for their actions. Those who do not flow for them privileges and benefits should be withdrawn.


Q2. What ethical code would you recommend for your institute, your class and your family? How should these codes be enforced?

Ans: -

a)Codes for Family:-

All the members in the family should try to maintain the prestige of family. There should be unity in all-family members. For any family, it should contribute for development of poor people.

Enforcement of codes

For enforcement of codes mental preparation of an individual is very important.

1. By establishing an appropriate policy for a code of ethics.

2. By using a formally appointed ethics committee

3. by teaching ethics in management development program.

4. By holding regular meetings to discuss ethical issues

5. By checking for possible violations of the code

6. By giving rewards to them who follows the codes regularly

8. By discussing ethical issues in family.

B)Codes for Class:

:-

1. For class while lectures complete silence should be maintained.

1. Students and teachers should try to keep class clean and well maintained.

2. Students should attend class on time and regularly.

3. Good mutual understanding should be maintained between teacher and student.

C)Ethical Codes for Institute:-

1. Official procedures in the institute should be simple, easy and less time consuming.

2. Environment in the institute should be clean and it should help in process of education.

3. Institute should help and support students whenever required.

4. Institute should provide all the required facilities to students

5. The professional educator deals considerately and justly with each student, and seeks to resolve problems, including discipline, according to law and institute policy.

6. The professional educator makes a constructive effort to protect the student from conditions detrimental to learning, health, or safety.

7. The professional educator does not use institutional or professional privileges for personal or partisan advantage.

8. The professional educator does not willfully make false statements about a colleague or the institutional syste

9. Every student should try to give best performance so as to increase the rating of institute.

10. Student should not make any rumors about institute.

11. Every student should help and support teachers and classmates.
